For this assignment, I had to create a visual of the definitions that we learned from class. Some of the topics were toxic stress, and other types of stress, and the different types of traumas a student can have. We had to put the definitions into our own words from what we learned and from the readings. This assignment relates to this standard by me, the teacher has an understanding of students’ individual differences. I could have a student with multiple different traumas and or multiple students that have traumas. In my presentation, I showed that I know all types of traumas by explaining them in detail in my own words. Also in my presentation, I showed how students could look in the classroom with these different traumas. Knowing these definitions also allows me to create diverse learning plans for my class, that will allow each learner to reach his or her full potential.

This assignment will help me for the future because students will walk into my classroom each year and, I will never know what they have gone through in the past, but learning about these topics and signs will help me better understand and I will know how to help. This assignment has helped me better understand how every student has gone through different things and how each student could have reacted in different ways. I also have learned that even though if a student has gone through something like one of the adverse childhood experiences it does not mean they are doomed for failure. This project has just helped me realize how to recognize there are traumas and how I am can help them learn and be a safe space for them.
